Cooking Matters for Child Care Professionals

December 2 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Free

Want to identify ways to make healthy foods appeal to kids? Need new recipe ideas that fit CACFP guidelines? Want to learn how to encourage healthy eating habits? This 8-hour training teaches early care and education professionals about healthy meal preparation and how to create a positive food environment for children.

Participants will practice in skills to promote positive mealtime attitudes and behaviors; identify simple, yet nutritious snacks and meals; organize cooking activities for children; and how to efficiently prepare healthy food options. There will be hands-on food preparation of snacks and meals that will be enjoyed family-style.  Participants will also receive new, essential kitchen tools for your program, and a workbook highlighting information covered during the training, 34 recipes, and an activity bank.

Participants will also receive 8-hours of training in Health, Safety, and Nutrition toward the annual requirement of 15 hours of ongoing training per Licensing.

This training is generously supported by Share Our Strength’s Cooking Matters.

This training is offered at no cost to participants.
