The T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® Program is pleased to announce that scholarship recipient, Carrie Kennedy, has earned her Associate of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education from Red Rocks Community College. She is currently an experienced Family Child Care Provider of Miss Carrie’s Child Care and has held her license since 2000. She is also a wife and mother of two teenage sons. Carrie’s academic journey illustrates her dedication and passion for the quality of care that the children of Colorado receive. “Taking classes on the college level has helped to re-excite me about what I do on a daily basis. I’m excited about doing more in my program and being able to explain to families why I’m doing these things based upon developmental theories and research.”
“Family child care is often seen in a different view than centers,” Carrie says “I want to show families that family child care can offer the same high-quality care and program that many centers offer. My education helps me to do this as well as providing families with the degree to back it up.”
Carrie recently completed her Colorado Shines assessment and is excited to help her two sons plan for college in the future. She is proud to have served as an example to them, and show them the importance of hard work and attaining an education. Lastly, Carrie said,” It’s a wonderful feeling to know that I’ve been a part of and touched so many lives. It reminds me why I started my business and work so hard each day.” Congratulations Carrie, and thank you for your participation in the T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® Program.
